“My gastrostomy means to me relief from disabling symptoms. Mine is used principally for decompression. I cannot imagine trying to manage my ill health without it. It is just unthinkable to me. Looking after it, takes up a significant part of my day. I’ve had many issues with both the stoma and the devices and when there are problems they can have quite an impact on mine and my carers quality of life, but I’m extremely grateful for its presence and the difference it makes.”

“I’m sure (it’s) what gave him at least two extra year’s life, if not more and I really am grateful for that. We did have lots of trouble with the liquid food delivery and the vitamin shake they sent with the syringes. He didn’t eat anything at all for nearly three years, it’s totally heart breaking to watch someone you love wasting away like that.”
