Urinary Catheterisation
A catheter inserted into the bladder through which urine is then passed.
Clean Intermittent Self Catheterisation ISC
Insertion of a single use catheter through the urethra, at regular intervals or as required, in order to empty the bladder. A collection bag may be used dependant on the individual needs.
An indwelling catheter, secured by a balloon that provides a continuous outflow of urine from the bladder. A collection bag is used. Most often used in an inpatient setting, but sometimes used at home.
A catheter passed through a small incision on the surface of the abdomen, directly into the bladder to allow urine to be emptied. Used when urethral access is not possible.
